  They also check for termites and wood worms.

  They check to see if your house matches the property assessment from public records, if their are any illegally completed additions.

  I need to lose weight. but HOW?

  i've gained a lot of weight recently.

  i really need to lose some.

  now, my diet isn't the problem as such....its the excersize part.

  I have battled my weight for a long time and lost quite a bit of weight due to gastric bypass 4 years ago.

  Now I have to diet and exercise like "normal" people.

  What I have found works for me is writing down everything I eat. I use a free computer at Fitday.com It helps to see what I am putting in and what I am burning off.

  It even has a place so you can customize foods, like if you go out to eat at a fast food place.

  That was a big reality check for me. All those Twizzlers add up...LOL

  ok i know it was not just upstate new york that had this problem.

  of all the jw weddings i went to, i can think of 3 that were catered.

  all the rest, the congregation members paid for.

  I must be from a ill mannered hippy California family...because every wedding in my family except for mine was a pot luck!

  Most everyone in my family is an amazing cook, so I know that everyone was very happy and we have lots of wonderful memories.

  I got married in a casino with a horrible tasting cake. I'd much rather have pot luck!

  here's a question and forgive me if someone's already touched on this subject, but...

  why don't jws, like the catholics & christians, have their own private schools where they can exercise their "no saluting flags, no celebrations, no holidays ( they can go to school all year long!!!!

  imagine what the curriculum would be like.

  my dad learned his fathers name when he applied for his social security.

  When I was in high school in California my 10th grade English teacher was named Dorothy Funk. She was so old, probably late 60's in 1989! She smoked like a chimney too..she always had to leave class 2 times to smoke!

  child abuse is not limited to jw's.. if you truly want to stop child abuse first start with the family , and be honest we all have a relative that is a pedophile.. then protect your family from stranger danger.. don't just isolate to jw's.. expand and truly stop the child abuse world wide.

  You are right, sexual abuse is not limited to the JW's.

  Unfortunately in this society women and children have no value. I'm sure this will upset a lot of people.

  But you don't see child molesters getting put away for as long as murders because the victim/survivor is still alive, although there are probably days when they wish they weren't.

  If everytime a child was abused they hung the abuser from a tree in the town square it might be a deterrant (sp?). People get away with doing the most horrible things to the most vulnerable - women and children.

  Someone should try to protect and help no matter the religion.

  Anyone know about 'cutting'?

  i am researching cutting and self-mutilation because i have a close family member who is doing this--she burned her arm last week and it's bad.

  i was wondering--i found an article on the internet that talks about support for the person and how some people get relief by using other methods like icing the skin with ice cubs or flicking themselves with rubber bands.. this person is in therapy and in the care of a psyciatrist too but i just wondered how common this is.

  her diagnosis isn't even for sure--could be adhd or depression.. any comments on experience with this would be helpful.

  Sadly our niece just got out of the hospital for this same problem. She is doing a lot better now that she is medicated and out of a bad situation.

  Do you think it bothers elders, to know they can not control us now?

  last summer i went to a wedding of a relative that is a witness.

  we're not disfellowshipped or disassociated, but have been inactive for about ten years.

  because no one mentions our history to others, very few members of our relatives congregations, even know we used to be witnesses.

  At my husbands grandmothers funeral wake, the witnesses were out in force. We were at a table with other family members who were no longer JW's.

  This table was set out for us in advance...far away from the JW's who were at the front near the buffet.

  Nothing like being a second class citizen with your own family.

  The JW's are so ridiculous with their faux power.

  I'm so angry!!!!!!

  well it looks like my plan to fade might not work after all.

  yesterday afternoon i was in my office when two elders stopped by for a visit.

  they came into my job and began to question me in front of my boss and my new assistant!

  Lola,

  I am so sorry this happened to you! Those Elders are complete jerk-off's!

  Don't they care if they get you fired? A lot of employers wouldn't be so supportive! You are very lucky to have your boss stand up for you!

  I'd call the legal department in Patterson and tell them what happened and how you could have lost your job etc...that you were reprimanded etc ( I know you weren't).

  I'd make it rain poop down on those elder's heads from above!

  And if everything else fails, I'd file a harrassment complaint with the police!
